The cornerstone of the cathedral was laid on February 19, 1882. And here comes my favorite detail: at that same time, two texts were placed in the foundations of the temple — one engraved on a metal plate, the other written on parchment. ✍️ The idea was for the historical events of 1877–1878 to be preserved in them forever.
The consecration, however, had to wait quite a while — it officially took place in 1924. And since the temple has three altars, the celebration stretched over three consecutive days: September 12, 13, and 14. Three days of celebration — now that's the Bulgarian way. 🙂
