Perperikon began as a prehistoric sanctuary and later grew into a major Thracian religious center. 🙆‍♂️ It's believed that this is where the temple of the god Dionysus once stood, where priests delivered their prophecies. During the Roman and medieval eras, the site developed into a fortress and a town, but it was abandoned after the Ottoman invasion. Today, it stands as one of Bulgaria's most impressive archaeological sites — an entire city carved straight into the rock. 🏺

The most powerful moment, though, came when I reached the highest point. The view… there's really no way to describe it fully. Mountains stretching endlessly, a sky that somehow feels closer than ever, and a silence that speaks louder than words. 😯🫶⛰️

A little tip from me: wear sturdy shoes and take your time. You're walking on stone here, and every step carries thousands of years of history.
