Getting from Basel to Lucerne (about 70 km) by train is quick and comfortable — perfect for a day trip. 🚄
Lucerne is definitely one of Switzerland's most beautiful cities. It sits on the shore of Lake Lucerne and is cut through by the Reuss River, so no matter which way you turn, there's water and a view waiting for you. 🙆♂️ The city was first mentioned back in the 8th century and was granted town status in 1178.
The main attraction is the Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke) — a covered wooden bridge from the 14th century with unique triangular paintings on its beams. Make sure to walk across it slowly, there's plenty to take in. 👌
What impressed me most about the city, though, was its architecture: old houses, narrow lanes, and towers. 🤷♂️ Switzerland has never let me down.
