Today I found myself at one of the most mysterious places in Greece – the royal tombs of ancient Aigai, near Vergina. 🇬🇷
More than 2,300 years ago, this very spot was the burial ground of the rulers of the ancient Macedonian kingdom. 👑 From above, all you see is a huge earthen mound, calm and unassuming. But step inside, and an entire world opens up, pulling you back centuries – royal tombs, golden treasures, weapons, and breathtaking frescoes. ✨
This is also where the famous royal tomb traditionally linked to Philip II of Macedon – father of Alexander the Great – was discovered. Standing in a place tied to people who changed the course of history is a feeling that's hard to put into words.
My advice: don't rush. Give yourself time down there, in the half-light, and let the silence do its work. It doesn't matter how many photos I take – some places you simply have to feel. ❤️
And it's for moments like these that I keep traveling. Because the world is simply too vast, and its history too incredible, to stay home. 🌍✈️
I travel. I discover. I tell the story. 🌍📸
