Today my journey takes me to one of the most beautiful places in Northern Greece – Edessa, also known as "the city of waters." 💙
Now imagine this: if you had come here before the 14th century, at the top of the plateau you wouldn't have seen streets and houses, but a lake. 🌊 At the end of the 14th century it overflowed, and the water began cascading down the rocks — and that's how this incredible watery kingdom we see today was born.
And its most impressive symbol? 🤩 Karanos Waterfall – the largest and most visited waterfall in Edessa. The water plunges down with a deafening roar, and around it there are paths, stairs, and resting spots that let you get as close as possible to the raw power of nature. 🌿💧
Here you simply can't help but stop for a photo… 📸 Nor can you help but get lost in the sound of the water — it drowns out everything else, including any thoughts of the way back.
This city once bore the Bulgarian name Voden – a name that even today seems to be written in every drop falling from the rocks. 🇧🇬
I leave with yet more photos on my phone… 📸 But the most important thing I take with me elsewhere – in my heart. ❤️
