An early Christian gem of Bulgaria! ⛪ 🤍💚❤️ I want to show you the Red Church of "Sveta Bogoroditsa" (Holy Virgin) — one of those ruins that somehow feels more alive than many brand-new buildings.
It stands near the "Pastusha" neighborhood by the town of Perushtitsa. Construction is believed to have begun back in the 4th-5th century, making it one of the oldest churches on Bulgarian soil. Just imagine how many holidays, wars, and generations have passed by these brick walls...
Since 1927 it has held the status of "National Antiquity," and in 1966 it was declared a monument of culture of national significance. If you happen to be in the area — set aside half an hour for it, it's well worth it. ✍️
