A small town, but lively enough. π My Saturday walk started along the canal in Berkhamsted β this is the Grand Union Canal, which runs all the way from London to Birmingham. πΆββοΈ I was glad to have the chance to enjoy its peace and quiet. π
After that, I continued on foot to Berkhamsted Castle. π° First, I decided to read the information boards β from them I learned more about the castle's history and the lives of the people who once lived here. π It was built in 1066 and was left in ruins by the 15th century. π€·ββοΈ
An interesting fact is that the castle once belonged to William I, the first Norman king of England. π€΄ If you're a fan of history and culture, this is a place you need to visit β and it's just 40 minutes by train from London. ππ€
