A small town, but lively enough. 👌 My Saturday walk started along the canal in Berkhamsted — this is the Grand Union Canal, which runs all the way from London to Birmingham. 🚶♂️ I was glad to have the chance to enjoy its peace and quiet. 👏
After that, I continued on foot to Berkhamsted Castle. 🏰 First, I decided to read the information boards — from them I learned more about the castle's history and the lives of the people who once lived here. 📝 It was built in 1066 and was left in ruins by the 15th century. 🤷♂️
An interesting fact is that the castle once belonged to William I, the first Norman king of England. 🤴 If you're a fan of history and culture, this is a place you need to visit — and it's just 40 minutes by train from London. 🚄🤌
