Amber Fort is one of the most important fortresses in Eastern India, and locals affectionately call it the "Amber Palace."🏰 It's located in the state of Rajasthan, just 11 km from Jaipur — a perfectly doable day trip.🚗
The foundations of this remarkable fortress were laid in 1592 by Raja Man Singh II, but the complex as we see it today dates back to the early 18th century. The best part is that throughout the whole site you can see the harmony between Hindu and Muslim architectural styles — they alternate, complement one another, and somehow fit together perfectly.
There's plenty to explore inside: the Kali temple, the Hall of Victory, Diwan-i-Aam (the hall of public audiences), the Sheesh Mahal mirror palace, and the Jag Mandir hall of fame. But honestly, what I found myself staring at the most were the intricate wood carvings on the walls and ceilings — the kind that make you stop, tilt your head back, and forget to keep walking.🙆♂️
