Wałbrzych is located in southwestern Poland and is surrounded by beautiful mountains and green forests. As soon as I arrived, I felt that sense of calm that big cities have somehow lost. I wandered through the center, with its lovely old buildings and charming little streets – the kind you start walking down with no destination in mind and end up never wanting to leave.
What impressed me most, though, was the famous Książ Castle – one of the largest castles in Poland. It looks truly majestic, and the view from it over the surrounding countryside is incredible. 👌 If you're in the area, be sure to set aside some time for it – this isn't a place to rush through.
I also learned that Wałbrzych used to be an important mining town. Many people worked in the coal mines, and that was the main livelihood of the local residents. Today, some of these sites have been turned into museums that show how the miners lived and worked – and that's exactly what I loved: the town doesn't hide its past, it tells its story.
My visit to Wałbrzych was truly interesting and memorable. I'm so glad I had the chance to see it and learn more about it. 🙆♂️
