We managed to climb all the way to the foot of Ras Dashen โ€” Ethiopia's highest peak, standing at an impressive 4,550 m. โ›ฐ๏ธ And that's exactly where the twist came: just 50 meters below the summit sits an Ethiopian Air Force base, and we simply weren't allowed through. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

I was really disappointed โ€” both about missing the summit and about how the commanding officer handled it. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ Big thanks to our local guide team, who did everything they could, but for military reasons the gate stayed shut. ๐Ÿค Sometimes things just aren't up to us, and not everything has to happen at any cost. ๐ŸคŒ

And yet โ€” what a unique adventure! There was laughter, there were misunderstandings, there was fear too. For me, it was a serious physical and mental challenge. ๐Ÿคช This wasn't just a trek, it was a true triumph of willpower! ๐Ÿ’ช Without a doubt, it's one of the most scenic routes any traveler could dream of. ๐Ÿฅพ

This is also home to a number of animals, some found nowhere else on Earth, and we were lucky enough to spot them: the Gelada baboons (a large monkey species), the Ethiopian wolf, thick-billed ravens, and a wonderful variety of colorful plants. ๐Ÿ™†โ€โ™‚๏ธ

I'm happy to have written this unforgettable adventure into the pages of my life. ๐Ÿค—
