Bahir Dar: The Blue Nile Falls and Lake Tana

Tis Issat left me breathless — the Blue Nile plunges down with such a roar that we ended up talking in gestures. 😮 Then Lake Tana calmed us right back down with a boat ride and a 14th-century monastery.

First came Tis Issat — the majestic Blue Nile Falls near Bahir Dar. Nature isn't joking around here: a curtain of water, a deafening roar, and a cloud of spray that soaks you before you even arrive. 😮

After that, we set off on a boat ride across the calm waters of Lake Tana — a complete contrast, all silence and water stretching as far as the eye can see. 🛶 We stopped at the ancient Ura Kidna Mihret monastery, whose 14th-century murals are among the most intricate and vivid in the entire region. 👌 You stand before them and simply fall silent.
