The path to the Pierced Rock starts from Stomantsi β a quiet Rhodope village from which it takes just over a kilometer to reach the foot of the cliff. The asphalt ends at a small plateau, and from there you follow a trail marked with white stones. The climb is short but somewhat steep β just enough to make you feel like you've actually earned it.
With every step, the views open up more and more, and the silence around you becomes almost tangible.πββοΈ At the top, you're greeted by the Pierced Rock itself β a majestic formation with three openings and an odd, almost mystical atmosphere.
The legends here are still very much alive. It's said that if a woman passes through the large opening three times, she'll be blessed with a child. It's also believed that crawling through the rock can cure various ailments.π―
Believe it or not β the view and the silence are real. A place where the effort is absolutely worth it.π
