As soon as we stepped into the city center, the fountains caught our eye. 🙆♂️ I don't think I'd ever seen so many different fountains packed into one place — you walk, you turn a corner, and there's another one gently bubbling away.
Pleven, though, is best known for its historical landmarks. Just the monuments tied to the Russo-Turkish War of Liberation number more than 200. We also made sure to visit the Mausoleum housing the remains of the fallen Russian and Romanian soldiers — a place where you instinctively lower your voice and speak more softly.
Honestly, trying to see everything in a single day is no easy task. 😅 My advice: wear comfortable shoes, and better yet, set aside two days instead of rushing around the way we did.
