Its name comes from an old legend: long ago, a large elderberry tree — called "svircena" or "svirchovina" — grew at the bottom of the sinkhole. 🌳 Its broad crown covered the cave's entrance, and local people, generation after generation, crafted sweet-sounding elderwood whistles from its branches. 🌿
The cave is part of the Karlukovo karst complex. Only the upper level is accessible, but wooden stairs have been installed at the entrance, so getting in is easy. 🪜 Don't skip it — it's well worth the detour from Prohodna. 👌
