Gozo felt like a colorful wilderness โ€” set apart from the world, yet full of charm. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ They call it the "Island of Calypso," and not without reason: in mythology, the nymph Calypso kept Odysseus on her island for a full 7 years as he journeyed back to his homeland of Ithaca after the end of the Trojan War. After just one day here, I'm starting to understand her. ๐Ÿ˜„

The island is small but packed with things to see โ€” the ฤ gantija Temples, the Valley of the Peaks, the Ta' Pinu Basilica, and the Citadel in Victoria. The Citadel is yet another wonderful stop for lovers of medieval atmosphere. ๐Ÿ‘ And some of Gozo's ancient temples are older than the Egyptian pyramids. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I learned that a quarter of Gozo's residents have never left their island. ๐Ÿคฆ That's because they're absolute patriots. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

I was captivated by the island's beauty, but even more so by the tranquility and the warmth I was met with. ๐Ÿ‘Œ Here, every little stone has been turned into an attraction and a piece of tourism. ๐Ÿคฃ
