The morning started off calm – with the smell of coffee and that light, tingling excitement before a new day on the road. ☕️ After breakfast I packed my bags, said goodbye to the hotel, and left behind yet another place that's now just a memory. 🤷‍♂️

Next stop: the Đurđevi Stupovi Monastery, which translates to "The Pillars of St. George." ⛪️ Perched high above Novi Pazar, it offers sweeping views – the whole city plus the valley of the Raška River, all in one frame.

Its history is impressive: it was built by Stefan Nemanja, the first independent ruler of Raška, to mark his victory in the battle of Kosovo Polje in 1171. Standing among these stones, looking down at the valley below, you somehow just get why this exact spot was chosen.

One of those places that's truly worth visiting – and then reading a bit more about afterward. 😍
