The house was built in the 16th century and stands as the heartfelt legacy of William Cecil, Lord High Treasurer to Queen Elizabeth I. Generations of his family have lived here ever since, making sure this fantastic house and estate continues to flourish. 🙆♂️
With its magnificent architecture, 300 acres of parkland, and deer roaming the grounds like they own the place, Burghley is the grandest house of the early Elizabethan era. For more than 500 years it has filled people with awe and inspiration — and believe me, it still does. 🙆♂️
My tip: set aside time for the park too, not just the state rooms. The view of the house from outside is half the pleasure.
