Northern Ireland isn't technically part of Great Britain, but rather an autonomous province of the United Kingdom. They even have their own currency — the Northern Irish pound. 💷
The first thing that struck me in Belfast was how wide the streets are, and how the city centre is dominated by massive red-brick buildings. 🧱
For a long time, Belfast was home to one of Britain's largest shipyards. It was here that the legendary Titanic was built, and there's now a dedicated museum near the docks in her honour. ⛴️ The building has 6 floors, so make sure you set aside enough time — this isn't a five-minute visit. 👀 😉
And let's not forget that the outskirts of the city served as filming locations for Game of Thrones. 💁♂️ I dedicated an entire day just to visiting the film locations. 📹 One of them was the Dark Hedges — those eerie rows of intertwined trees that look every bit as haunting in person as they do on screen. After that, I headed to Dunluce Castle, home of House Greyjoy — fans will recognise it from the very first episode. 🏰
This country charmed me with its incredible beauty and mystique. 👌 Belfast has it all — music 🎼, great food 🍛, art and culture. 🙆♂️
