Kabile is located just 10 km from Yambol and literally a stone's throw from the highway 🚙, making it one of those places you might drive past a hundred times without ever suspecting what lies hidden there. And yet it's truly remarkable — the only well-preserved large Thracian ancient city in Bulgaria. 🙆♂️
It was once renowned for its wealth and culture, served as a residence for Thracian kings, and even Alexander the Great passed through here. 💁 The Thracians also used the site to celebrate the summer solstice — just imagine what a sight that must have been.
Beyond its history, Kabile is also known for a beautiful legend. 🙆♀️ The Thracians believed their city was founded by the goddess Cybele — the equivalent of the ancient Greek Artemis — and that's exactly where the name Kabile comes from. 😉
A small tip: wear comfortable shoes and give yourself plenty of time to explore at a leisurely pace. The walk turned into an effortless journey through time! 👌🚶♂️
