Valladolid is the third-largest city in Yucatán, and it sits in a wonderfully convenient spot — just 40 km from Chichén Itzá and 150 km from Cancún. 🚗 But the moment you step into its colorful streets, you somehow forget you even came for the pyramids.
For the locals here, phones 🤳, laptops 💻 and video games 🎮 seem not to exist at all. People play cards, backgammon, or just sit around talking. 🃏🗣️ And that's exactly what hit me right in the heart — this town brought me straight back to childhood, to those evenings playing outside our apartment block until late. 🤷♂️
If I had to sum it up in three words! 🙆♂️ Lively. Authentic. Unique. 👌 And if you're on a day trip to Chichén Itzá, make sure to set aside at least one afternoon for Valladolid too. It's absolutely worth it.
