From there we took a two-hour boat tour ๐Ÿšค, and it turned out to be one of the most rewarding two hours of the entire trip. We cruised through the estuary channels, winding between majestic mangrove forests, surrounded by life at every turn โ€” birds in incredible variety and crocodiles lounging calmly in their natural habitat. ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿฆœ

The highlight, of course, was the pink flamingo. ๐Ÿฆฉ We watched from a distance as it fed without a care in the world, while we sat in the boat with our jaws on the floor. ๐Ÿค—

After a brief stop to admire the flamingos, we headed to the Mayan mud bath, where we covered our bodies in nutrient-rich clay. ๐Ÿง– It was a sight to behold โ€” a bunch of grey little people snapping photos of each other.

We wrapped up the excursion at Rio Lagartos beach, where we washed off the clay and kept soaking up the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The perfect ending. ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ–๏ธ๐Ÿป
