In 2007, it was named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. π The city became especially famous after appearing in one of the "Indiana Jones" films, and ever since, it has drawn millions of travelers from around the globe. π
Locals call Petra the "City of Secrets" β a place literally carved into the rock by the Nabataeans, who built a civilization right at the crossroads of the ancient East. Beyond the exquisite Treasury, Petra also hides a massive amphitheater, entirely hewn from stone. It once held 8,000 people and boasted remarkable acoustics.
One day was definitely not enough for me. I'd gladly go back again. π€·ββοΈ
